Typically the answer to your problem is found with the right questioning and not at the end of some fancy expensive test.

The state of health that an individuals gut is in is often a good indicator of how healthy they are. Therefore we are interested in the gut health of every client that we work with. The gut is often referred to as the second brain and it has a huge role to play not only in the development of auto-immune conditions but also in individual's with chronic pain and symptoms such as migraines and brain fog.

Gut problems are extremely prevalent and can manifest themselves in a multitude of ways. These include diarrhoea and constipation, IBS, being overly gassy, acid reflux, sluggish digestion, development of food sensitivities and so on. Sometimes they can also develop into more serious conditions such as Crohn's, ulcerative colitis, inflammatory bowel disease, Type I diabetes, Coeliac and many others. None of these symptoms or conditions appear over night and they all develop due to an underlying problem.

There are two very common things that have been found to have a hugely detrimental effect on gut flora: stress; and long term antibiotic use. If your gut becomes inflamed or you develop increased intestinal permeability, commonly referred to as "leaky gut", then this will increase the likelihood that you start to experience other symptoms (such as food sensitivities) and also mean that you are not drawing nourishment from food as efficiently as you ought to.

At North East Functional Health we have the knowledge and expertise to get your gut back on the road to recovery. It is often not as simple as taking a lot of probiotics, and nor is it as simple as "you are what you eat". Fortunately though figuring out what's right for you doesn't require expensive tests or an endless list of supplements that you seem to need to take forever more.
